Our Story
Let me tell you a story…
It’s a story about my passion, dreams, and the strength of family — a story that’s changing the world of berries. For years, I’ve been creating new raspberry varieties — I am the author and co-author of 28 Polish raspberry and blackberry cultivars, some of which are now grown on plantations all over the world. It’s an incredible feeling to see how something that begins as a tiny seed of an idea can turn into a reality that people can taste in so many corners of the globe.
But what truly drives me is something more than just breeding. I wanted my work not only to produce delicious fruits, but also to inspire, educate, and show people how extraordinary raspberries and blackberries can be. They are not just fruits — they are a story of diversity, of nature, of passion, and of how science and determination can change the world.
That’s why, in Juraszowa, in the Podegrodzie Municipality, in 2022, together with Jakub and Sylwia, we created Dr. Berry — a family place where we combine cultivation, education, and the promotion of Polish raspberries. Here, in the heart of the Beskid Mountains, new Polish raspberry and blackberry varieties have been developed in Brzezna since 1979.
We want the Podegrodzie Municipality to become the true cradle of Polish raspberries — a place recognized around the world for berry breeding and education. It’s here that flavors are born — flavors that conquer plantations across continents. It’s here that varieties are created which transform the global raspberry market.
Our mission is not only to create new cultivars — it’s to build awareness that raspberries can be colorful, diverse, and full of unique flavors. Podegrodzie has the potential to become a symbol of quality, innovation, and berry-growing tradition. And we’re ready to make that dream come true!
How It All Began
It all started with the children…
When our kids first saw our collection of raspberries and blackberries, their eyes widened in surprise.
“Are these raspberries too?” they asked, staring at the black, golden, and purple fruits. They couldn’t believe raspberries could come in so many colors — and they were even more amazed by the huge, juicy blackberries.
For us, it was obvious, but in that moment, we realized something important — if our own children didn’t know how diverse berries could be, how many other people had no idea either? That’s when they gave us the spark to act. We wanted to show them — and the world — how extraordinary, colorful, and diverse the world of raspberries and blackberries really is!
We have a family farm, inherited by our brother Szymon and his wife Sylwia from our grandparents. It was a special place for us, full of memories and tradition. That’s where our very first collection of raspberries and blackberries was created.
Over time, we expanded our efforts. We established another plantation at our brother Jakub and his wife Kasia’s farm — where we planted all the raspberry and blackberry varieties bred by our sister, Dr. Agnieszka Orzeł.
The children would visit the plantations with curiosity, tasting fruits they had never seen before — black raspberries, giant blackberries, golden and purple varieties. Their excitement became our inspiration. That’s when we realized — this was more than just farming. It was the beginning of something big!
Berry Education – From Local Festivals to a Global Mission
From the very beginning, we focused on local activities — festivals, meetings, educational events.
In 2024, we became patrons of an educational innovation program called “In the World of Raspberries and Blackberries – Discovering the Senses”, thanks to which students from the Primary School in Podegrodzie could learn about these extraordinary fruits through hands-on experience.
The initiative was met with great enthusiasm from the children, so we decided to extend Berry Education to other schools in the Podegrodzie Municipality — and soon, across all of Poland.
What We’ve Achieved and What Lies Ahead in 2025
We began this year in a special way — by promoting Polish raspberries at Berry Quest in Tasmania. It was a huge step for us, as it allowed our varieties to reach a wider international audience.
In Australia, colorful raspberries are a real rarity — which confirmed our belief that Polish breeding has tremendous potential.
But we’re not slowing down! 2025 will be a breakthrough year — full of new challenges and ambitious plans.
What’s Ahead?

🔹 We plan to participate in more national and international conferences to spread knowledge about Polish breeding and the potential of our country’s superfruits.
🏡 Podegrodzie – The Official Raspberry Municipality
🔹 We want the Podegrodzie Municipality to become a true symbol of Polish raspberries — a place known worldwide for berry breeding and education.
🔹 We’re planning events to promote Polish raspberries, educational workshops, and the creation of demonstration farms and outdoor educational sites where everyone can see how Polish superfruits grow.
🔹 We’re launching the program “Berry for Kids – Little Gardeners of Dr. Berry”, where children can grow raspberries on balconies and learn how to care for plants.
🔹 Berry Bus – a mobile educational center — we’re preparing its first routes to spread berry knowledge across Poland.
🌱 New Varieties and Breeding Development
🔹 We’re starting our very own breeding program — developing innovative raspberry and blackberry cultivars adapted to different climates and growers’ needs.
🔹 Children as experts — we’re planning special selection sessions where the youngest will help choose their favorite new flavors.

We want knowledge about berries to become part of everyday life. We believe berries are more than just tasty snacks — they’re a source of health, inspiration, and beautiful traditions.
That’s why we’re founding the Global Berry Education Society — to promote berry education and support those who want to make the world more aware and healthier.
Our goal is to build a global community — one that shares knowledge, inspires others, organizes workshops, promotes berry cultivation, and encourages everyone to include berries in their daily diet.
Together, we can make all berries — no matter the species — more appreciated, both in Poland and around the world.
